1. Introduction

In the past, the first drugs to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) were sildenafil (Viagra®) and tadalafil (Cialis®). However, more recently, other phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (PDE5i) have become available, including Cialis® and vardenafil (Levitra®). However, there are differences between these drugs in terms of their effect on PDE5 inhibition and in their mode of action, which has made the studies of this drug more complicated. This study investigates how the drugs differ in their effect on the PDE5 activity, a key determinant of blood flow.

In this study, we aimed to compare the effects of sildenafil (Viagra®), tadalafil (Cialis®), and vardenafil (Levitra®) on the activity of PDE5 enzymes in the human corpus cavernosum of patients with normal and benign erectile dysfunction.

2. Materials and Methods

This study was conducted as a retrospective analysis using a single-center retrospective study in patients with ED, who were evaluated by a specialist, who was blinded to the study design, for all of the drugs in the study. The study population consisted of patients with ED who underwent a hysterectomy and/or corpus cavernosum resection following the approval of the American Society of Erectile Medicine (ASEM). Patients were assessed for the presence of ED according to the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) [1] and their baseline characteristics as shown in.

Sildenafil was used as the reference drug in this study. Patients who did not have an International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) questionnaire were excluded, and the remaining study group consisted of 441 patients. A total of 522 patients were screened for the presence of ED. Patients were divided into two groups based on the use of sildenafil (Viagra®), tadalafil (Cialis®), and vardenafil (Levitra®) as reference drugs. In addition to the use of sildenafil, we excluded patients who were taking other drugs, such as alpha-blockers, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), antifolate, and vitamin C preparations, for at least 12 hours before the procedure, and those who were prescribed a nitrate medication (e.g., isosorbide dinitrate) for ED treatment, including nitroglycerin. The study protocol was approved by the institutional review board of the University of Basel (protocol number: 2015-05-31-14).

3. Discussion

The main objective of this study was to compare the effects of two phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (PDE5i) on the activity of PDE5 enzymes in the human corpus cavernosum of patients with normal and benign erectile dysfunction. The results showed that sildenafil, tadalafil, and vardenafil decreased the activity of PDE5 enzymes in the corpus cavernosum of normal and benign erectile dysfunction patients, and that tadalafil decreased PDE5 enzymes in the corpus cavernosum of men with ED. The mechanism behind the differences in PDE5 activity between the two PDE5 inhibitors may be related to their different pharmacological profiles, which include nitric oxide, cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), and nitric oxide synthase (NOS).

The study demonstrated that vardenafil, the only PDE5 inhibitor that has been shown to significantly improve penile erection quality in patients with ED, showed significant improvement in erectile function over time (P < 0.001). However, this finding was less significant in the group that received tadalafil or sildenafil. In addition, there was no significant difference in penile hardness, rigidity, or rigidity at baseline (P > 0.05) between the two groups. These results demonstrate that sildenafil, tadalafil, and vardenafil are not the only PDE5 inhibitor with significant improvement in erectile function in men with ED. In addition, the study found that vardenafil is the most effective PDE5 inhibitor in men with ED, with a longer duration of action, and the most selective PDE5 inhibitor with more favorable safety profiles.

The study also showed that sildenafil significantly improved erectile function in men with ED by increasing the amount of blood flow to the penis, which could be considered a novel therapeutic target.

TORONTO – Viagra Canada has launched a legal action against the Canadian online pharmacy, which was accused of illegally selling unlicensed and dangerous prescription drugs, without a licence, seeking a licence to sell the drugs, the Canadian government announced Thursday.

The drug licence – issued by the Health Sciences Authority – is designed to ensure that prescription drug products are available in Canadian pharmacies, and that the drugs are legally imported into Canada.

The drug licence – which includes products such as erectile dysfunction drugs, Cialis and Viagra – will be reviewed by the Health Sciences Authority and will be issued by the Health Sciences Authority’s provincial drug authority, as part of an investigation into the sale of unlicensed and dangerous prescription drugs.

The Health Sciences Authority is responsible for the safety and efficacy of prescription drugs in Canada, and is expected to issue a licence for Viagra Canada to its customers. The licence will be issued by Health Sciences Canada, an independent provincial drug authority.

The Canadian online pharmacy will continue to operate in the city of Burnaby and surrounding areas until the licence is approved, which can be found at the city’s website,.

Under the new policy, “consultation with a prescription or a product licence will be made available on the basis of the person’s health and the product licence will not be required,” the statement said.

“To protect Canadians’ health, Canadians must not purchase or use any prescription drug products without first consulting with a prescription drug licence.”

The drug licence will not be available in Burnaby and surrounding areas until Health Canada’s health regulations take effect and Health Canada’s licence is reviewed and issued.

It is possible that Health Canada will be affected by the drug licence, which allows consumers to purchase only those products they consider “safe and effective” for their health and to avoid products that could cause harm to a consumer or the public.

“This regulatory action demonstrates that Health Canada’s relationship with Health Canada is based on a partnership with the relevant provincial drug authority,” said Health Sciences Authority Commissioner Paul Lechleiter.

“It will only take the health regulator’s expertise to ensure that this licensing process is used successfully and that the safety and efficacy of the products are not affected by this new process.”

In February, Health Canada announced that it had entered into an agreement with two Canadian online pharmacies to begin selling the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra, which has not been approved by Health Canada as yet.

It is believed that the sale of the erectile dysfunction drug, Viagra, has led to a surge in the demand for the drug from men and women who suffer from erectile dysfunction.

The sexual dysfunction drug was introduced in 1998 and is available in Canada for a limited time, under the brand name Revatio, in both the UK and Australia, and is available on prescription for a range of conditions.

As of late 2024, the drug has not been approved for use in men.

“The sexual dysfunction drug Viagra was introduced in 1998 and is available on prescription for a limited time and is available on the prescription of a doctor in both the UK and Australia,” said Lechleiter, the health regulator’s Commissioner of Health and Human Services. “This is the first time that we have approved the sale of Viagra in the US.
